Privacy policy
Last updated: 17 September 2026
This policy covers the Expense Admin website and the Expense Admin app for iPhone (shown as Expenses on the home screen), made by Philipp Jahoda. The short version: neither collects personal data.
The website
This website is a static page. It sets no cookies, runs no analytics and collects no data about you. The only third party request it makes is for the Manrope web font, which is loaded from Google Fonts. Your browser sends its IP address to Google to fetch the font. Google's privacy policy applies to that request.
The site is hosted on GitHub Pages by GitHub, Inc., 88 Colin P. Kelly Jr. Street, San Francisco, CA 94107, USA. Like any web host, GitHub records technical details of each request (such as IP address, time, requested page and browser) in server logs to run and secure the service. We have no access to these logs. See GitHub's privacy statement for details.
The app
- Expenses has no user accounts, no sign in, no analytics, no advertising and no tracking. The app sends nothing to the developer or to any third party.
- Your expenses, categories and budgets are stored on your iPhone. If you turn on iCloud sync in Settings, the same data is stored in your private iCloud database, which only your Apple Account can access. Apple's privacy policy applies to that storage. You can turn sync off at any time.
- Receipt scanning processes the image on your iPhone using Apple's Vision and Apple Intelligence frameworks. The image and the recognised text never leave the device. Camera and photo access are used only for this feature and only when you start a scan.
- Requests you make through Siri or Shortcuts are handled by Apple under Apple's Siri privacy policy. The app receives only the values needed to carry out the request, such as an amount and a category.
- If you enable the app lock, Face ID or Touch ID is checked by iOS. The app only learns whether the check succeeded and never receives biometric data.
- When you export a CSV file you choose where it goes. The app keeps no copy and uploads nothing.
Purchases
Expenses Pro is sold through Apple's App Store as a subscription or a one-time purchase. Apple processes the payment and your Apple Account under Apple's privacy policy. The app receives only Apple's confirmation of the purchase and stores no payment details.
Your rights
Under the GDPR you have the right to access, correct or delete personal data about you, and to complain to a data protection authority (in Austria, the Datenschutzbehörde). Since we hold no personal data about you, there is normally nothing to access or delete. Deleting the app removes the data on the device; data in iCloud can be removed through iCloud settings. If you email us for support, we keep your message only as long as needed to answer it.
