Privacy

Last updated: 13 October 2026

Photo Grid runs entirely in your browser. Your photos are read from your computer and never sent anywhere. There are no accounts, no cookies, no analytics and no requests to other services.

Your photos

When you choose a folder or photos, your browser works with the local copies on your computer: it reads the files directly from your disk, right where they are. They are shown, converted (HEIC) and exported inside the browser. Smaller preview copies exist only in the browser's memory while the page is open and are gone when you close it. No photo, preview or note is uploaded, to this website or to anyone else. Once the page is loaded, it also works without an internet connection.

When your browser asks to "upload" a folder (Firefox uses that word for any folder access), this only means the page may read the files. Nothing leaves your computer.

What is saved, and where

Chrome and Edge can write into the folder you choose. There Photo Grid saves photo-grid.json (the order of your photos, notes, crop positions and settings, no photos) and the files you export into an export folder.

In your browser's own storage on this computer, Photo Grid keeps:

None of this is sent anywhere. Clearing this site's data in your browser removes all of it.

Hosting

The app is hosted on GitHub Pages by GitHub, Inc., 88 Colin P. Kelly Jr. Street, San Francisco, CA 94107, USA. Like any web host, GitHub records technical details of each request for the app's files, such as IP address, time, requested file and browser, in server logs to run and secure the service. We have no access to these logs. See GitHub's privacy statement for details.

Open source

The complete source code is public on GitHub, so you can check all of the above yourself.
